Just the other day I received an email from a shy guy (we’ll call him Rob for the purposes of this article) asking the following:

hi, my name is rob and i just wanted to know what some of the desirable traits women look for in men are. i’m having a hard time talking to girls. i’m really envious of the guys who can always pick a girl up at their command. is there something wrong with me? am i not desirable at all to most women I meet? or am i missing out on something like being a bit more buff?

I felt like this might be a good time to list some of the most desirable traits in men. You would really think that it’s a simple thing, that women just want smart, rich guys. Well, that’s not true. When a group of women were asked, “what is the trait you most desire in a guy?” by a group of researchers, “beefiness” came in last place, money came in third-from-last and you know what bested intelligence? Three different traits that, if you’re reading this, you are likely to have.

So without further ado, the most desirable traits that women want in a man!

1. The ability to keep a woman entranced in your conversation was more highly ranked than both muscles and money. When you can keep a woman entertained by talking about something unique and then sparking a conversation, you are one step closer to her heart.
2. Women value how charming a guy is over his wallet size almost any day. When you’re looking to go out and find a women to date, you need to show her that you can be charming. You can do that by simply smiling, relaxing and carrying yourself  the right way. If you’re having trouble doing this, just think about how you felt when you did something that made yourself proud. You know when you aced that last test in your class in school or when you did something admirable? Copy those feelings and stand tall and proud. I can’t stress enough how one of the most desirable traits is a man who can be charming and appear confident.
3. Dress up just a bit. We women love a man who knows how to dress. Some of this might include combing your hair, putting a little  bit of hair gel in your hair and styling it, or just use some water. Make sure your clothes are something above a red t-shirt and a pair of jeans. Don’t get me wrong, you can get away with a red t-shirt and a pair of jeans, but you are much better off by dressing in something that’s a little bit sharper, just don’t overdo it.
4. Impress her! Don’t lie, just impress her with something. You can check out some interesting facts online that pertain to wherever you are if you need a way to impress a woman. One of the most desirable traits is being able to make a women think you’re smarter than the average guy, or at least that you have something to offer.
5. Don’t stress over anything, be cool as ice but as warm as spring. What I mean is that amongst all the desirable traits in men that women love, staying calm and collect is one of them. You know those guys who have a hair-trigger that go off on the smallest little thing? Don’t be one of those guys.

That’s it!  The most desirable traits in men are also some of the simplest.  If you take anything away, be calm, be charming, be sharply dressed and be interesting! Always try to be someone interesting, just don’t try to be someone you’re not. It’s not hard to maintain the desirable traits in men that women want that way.
